NETWORK & SYSTEMS ENGINEER


POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Network & System Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the wide and local area networks.

This role requires close coordination with on-site teams to ensure smooth and effective installations, while also working closely with other technical teams to ensure the network is reliable, secure, and available for FibreUp customers and drive the FibreUp business strategy.

The position also involves the design and configuration of indoor and outdoor Wireless Access Points (WAPs), as well as the setup and management of robust CCTV networks. The Network & Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting both internal stakeholders and external customers.

KEY REPSPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Network Design, Implementation and monitoring for our FibreUp business strategy
  • Minimise downtime and ensure high availability to customers
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, security patches, and backups to ensure the stability and security of the network.
  • Design, Configure and Assess Wireless Access Points (WAPs)
  • Design, Configure, Implement CCTV Network Setup and Support
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting – remote
  • Collaborate with other IT team members and technical teams
  • Maintain network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Stay up to date with the latest network technologies and trends and evaluate new network products and services for potential integration into the FibreUp's network.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, work ethic, and customer service when interacting with customers, internal teams, and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, preferably in an ISP environment.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPN, and DNS.
  • Experience with network security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and access control lists.
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, such as Wireshark, Nagios, and Cacti.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Cisco certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE, are a plus.
