Role Summary

We are seeking an Experienced Biotechnologist with over 2 years of industry experience to join our research and development team. This role involves hands-on work in our state-of-the-art lab, focusing on fermentation processes, yeast cultivation, and product development. You will be a key contributor to our ongoing projects and will play a critical role in advancing our innovative biotechnology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

·      Designing and conducting experiments, making observations and measurements, researching information, analyzing data, preparing or supervising the preparation of laboratory reports and scientific papers, presenting findings at scientific meetings and conferences, and supervising the work of staff 

·      Design and carry out experiments to create new products or enhance existing ones.

  • Conduct and optimize fermentation experiments, including yeast propagation and performance testing.
  • Develop and implement bioprocesses for product manufacturing, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Perform DNA/RNA sequencing and enzyme kinetics studies as needed for various projects.
  • Utilize and maintain laboratory equipment such as qPCR machines, microscopes, pipettes, laminar flow hoods and autoclaves.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, preparing comprehensive reports for internal use and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product development and research initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations in all laboratory practices.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to contribute new ideas for biotechnological advancements.
  • Maintain quality control testing of products
  • Maintain yeast culture library and ongoing yeast propagation.
  • Maintain excellent lab book records

Required Skills and Expertise

  • Proficiency in fermentation techniques and yeast cultivation processes.
  • Hands-on experience with DNA/RNA isolation and PCR technologies
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and software for data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of microbial control procedures and aseptic technique.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize experimental protocols.

Educational Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications or specialized training in fermentation technology is a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a biotechnological or industrial research setting.
  • Experience working on yeast-based projects or bioprocess engineering is highly desirable.
  • A proven track record of successful project contributions and experimental design.

Salary Range and Benefits

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience. Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 (plus superannuation)
