PodBed Australia is an innovative and growing hostel brand that prides itself on offering exceptional service, comfort, and community to our guests. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Hostel Manager to oversee the operations of two hostel locations. As a Hostel Manager at PodBed, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running of both properties, maintaining a welcoming and safe environment for our guests, and managing the daily operations across two sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day Operations: Manage all daily aspects of two hostel locations, including check-in and check-out processes, guest relations, and customer service. Ensure smooth operation of all areas of both hostels, including reception, dormitories, kitchen, and common areas.
- Staff Management: Supervise, train, and lead a team of front-line staff across both locations. Create and manage staff rosters, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts at both hostels. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and guidance to ensure high standards of service.
- Maintenance and Property Management: Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of both properties. Ensure all facilities are well-maintained and in working order, addressing any repair needs promptly. Coordinate with maintenance staff to handle property issues efficiently.
- Guest Services: Handle guest inquiries, concerns, and feedback at both locations, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and effectively. Maintain high standards of customer service, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure both hostels operate in compliance with all local laws and regulations. Maintain a safe environment for both guests and staff by conducting regular safety checks at both locations and ensuring emergency protocols are in place.
- Financial Management: Assist in managing the budget for both hostels, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost-efficiency without compromising quality of service. Monitor stock levels and ensure supplies are replenished at both properties.
- Marketing and Promotions: Work with the management team to promote both hostels, attract guests, and improve guest satisfaction. Help with the planning of events, activities, and promotional initiatives at both locations to enhance the guest experience.
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in hostel or hotel management, or customer service, with a proven track record of managing operations. A minimum of 3 years of experience is required.
- Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff across two locations. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with guests, staff, and stakeholders at both locations in a professional and courteous manner.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to handle guest concerns, resolve issues, and think on your feet to maintain smooth operations across two sites.
- Work Rights: The candidate must have Australian work rights. While Australian citizenship or Permanent Residency is preferred, it is not required.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in hostel management software and tools (such as Cloudbeds, Connecteam, OTA’s platforms), as well as general office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform light physical duties such as handling supplies, carrying luggage, or assisting with maintenance tasks when necessary.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays, depending on the hostel’s needs. This role requires overseeing operations at both locations, so travel between sites may be necessary.
