Community Worker


About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Community Worker to join our team. The role involves supporting individuals and groups within the community to improve their well-being and connect with available resources. You will play a vital part in fostering social inclusion and enhancing community development.

Key Responsibilities

·      Evaluating clients' requirements and designing, creating, and delivering educational, training, and support initiatives.

·      Conducting client interviews to determine the scope and specifics of their challenges.

·      Tracking clients' progress and providing updates through detailed reports.

·      Directing clients to appropriate organisations or services for further assistance.

·      Identifying community needs and available resources in areas such as healthcare, welfare, housing, employment, and education.

·      Collaborating with community organisations, welfare providers, government departments, and private enterprises to address community concerns and raise awareness about available resources and services.

·      Offering support to families, including education and care for children and individuals with disabilities in residential units, shared housing, and public institutions.

·      Managing and supervising individuals under probation or parole.

·      Helping young people address social, emotional, and financial challenges.

·      Drafting funding proposals, and resource allocation requests, and preparing reports for government agencies and other relevant organisations.

Skills and Experience Required

  • A qualification in Community Services, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in community support or a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and cultural sensitivity.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Language proficiency in [e.g Mandarin/Cantonese] is highly desirable (if applicable).

Special Requirements

  • Must be available for flexible working hours, including weekends, when required.
  • A valid full Australian driver's license
  • A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC), National Police Check and NDIS Worker Screen Check
