Roll:
- To provide technical support to assist the Farm Manager in poultry and egg production, servicing and marketing.
Responsibilities:
- Examining topographical, physical and soil characteristics of farm land to determine its most effective use to retain nutrient and build soil health through regenerative practices.
- Ensure optimum livestock health.
- Analyse egg production results and livestock metrics to optimise performance.
- Monitor livestock and gauge effectiveness of feed formulae - diets must be formulated to provide all the bird's nutrient requirements to achieve optimum results.
- Providing advice, training and technical support and services on technology solutions such as sensors, farm management software, data and robotics.
- Installing, programming, testing, repairing and maintaining animal and crop health monitoring equipment.
- Developing, maintaining, and operating complex technological systems and equipment used in farm production, including analysing data and preparing reports.
- Collecting and collating data for research and animal husbandry purposes.
- Updating records for the efficient management of the enterprise including layer performance ; egg care; vaccination; feed formulae.
- Arranging the supply and administration of pharmaceuticals, vaccines and other chemicals to the farm and giving advice on their use.
- Perform autopsies and identify pathogenic microorganisms, parasites and insects and weeds harmful to livestock and devise methods of control.
- Maintenance of good livestock health including; prevention of disease; early recognition of disease; early treatment of disease.
- Maintain Quality Assurance Program. Planning livestock depopulation and shed change overs.
- Maintaining safe working practices and a safe working environment.
Requirements:
Our ideal candidate is an experienced Animal Husbandry Technician with a minimum of two years full time work experience and a minimum Australian Diploma/ Advanced Diploma or equivalent. IN the absence of qualification, 5 years full time relevant work experience is required.
