Engineering Technologist


An Engineering Technologist in the telecommunication industry is responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining communication systems, networks, and equipment. They work closely with engineers and technical teams to ensure optimal performance, troubleshoot issues, and support the deployment of new technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

? System Design & Implementation:

  1. Assist in designing and implementing telecommunication systems, including wired and wireless networks.
  2. Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of telecommunications hardware and software.

? Testing & Troubleshooting:

  1. Conduct performance testing and diagnostics on telecommunication systems.
  2. Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues related to network connectivity, signal transmission, and equipment functionality.

? Network & Infrastructure Support:

  1. Assist in the maintenance and optimization of cellular networks, fiber-optic systems, and broadband infrastructure.
  2. Monitor network performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.

? Technical Documentation & Compliance:

  1. Prepare technical reports, schematics, and system documentation.
  2. Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.

? Collaboration & Customer Support:

  1. Work with engineers, technicians, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
  2. Provide technical support and training to end-users and field technicians.

Qualifications & Skills:

? Education: Diploma or degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.

? Technical Skills: Knowledge of RF systems, fiber optics, VoIP, 5G, LTE, and network protocols.

? Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.

? Communication: Strong written and verbal communication for documentation and customer interaction.

? Software & Tools: Proficiency in CAD software, signal testing tools, and network management systems.

Work Environment:

  1. Fieldwork, office settings, or lab environments.
  2. May require on-call availability for troubleshooting urgent technical issues.
