LC101 combines a world-class online curriculum with dynamic in-person instruction and specialized skill tracks tailored to align with employer demand.Teaching Assistant ResponsibilitiesTeaching Assistants (TAs) assist with instruction, lead and maintain an advisory group of 8 - 12 students, and assist students through the coursework. As an advisory group leader, TAs assist students in coursework, provide reteaching for subjects covered, and lead their advisory group through small group exercises. TAs are required to become familiar with the class material and assignments before the class begins. This role reports to the course Instructor.Qualifications* Knowledge of technical concepts* Passion for programming* Strong communication skills - Leading small groups, and one on one instruction* Perception/Patience (knowing when a student needs help)* Growth MindsetYou're perfect for this role if you are* A great leader* Detail oriented* Proactive* Experienced in teaching, mentoring, or tutoring* Armed with a solid understanding of technical concepts (LC101 graduate, CS student or graduate, professional programmer, programming enthusiast engaged in the local tech scene)Position TypePart Time - ContractThe class will start online and may transition to in-person delivery at a later date when national, state, and local health guidelines and recommendations indicate it is safe again to hold in-person educational programming.Class meets Mondays and Thursdays from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm via Zoom. Class starts early October 2020 and runs through June 2021. The Lead Instructor may be required to attend 4 2-hour training sessions prior to the beginning of the class.Teaching Assistants will be paid $12.50/hr, and will work 8-10 hours a week.
