Scope This position will be focusing on governance, methodologies, standards, procedures, day to day operation, strategy development, engineering and operations for the database and SAP Basis environment. Manages associates including database administrators, ERP administrators and database architects. Accountable for cost center budgets including salary expense and vendor contract negotiation. Accountable for managing medium to large infrastructure improvement/operational enhancement projects that have enterprise-wide impact. Major Responsibilities Provides leadership to the engineering and operations of the database and SAP Basis team. Manage database department workflow and provide strategic and tactical guidance on departmental projects/issues. Communicate decisions, resources, priorities and relevant project information to team members. Serve as an escalation point. Develop and manage policy and processes that continually improve the supported technologies, projects and support services. Plan, organize and track functional tasks and task priorities within the teams to achieve technical and functional requirements. Develop and manage reports to effectively communicate to upper management, all activities and progress of the support team. Represent the teams by working with other Technology and Business Management to solve business and Technology problems, and successfully execute projects. Provide guidance, coaching and development opportunities appropriate to each direct report's individual needs. Perform all necessary management functions, including hiring, evaluations, merit allocations, and disciplinary action as required. Ensure that service stability and availability are maintained at the highest possible levels. Partner with Technology and business users to quickly remediate production issues that arise. Works closely with Server, Security, Network, Storage, and Application Architecture in developing a multi-year strategy. Builds a solid metric program to measure the efficacy of the solutions implemented and institute continuous improvement program year-after-year. Responsible for the architecture, budgeting, sourcing, and procurement of Database and SAP Basis-based hardware and software solutions. Promotes a collaborative environment within the Database and Basis Services team and other IT teams. Makes recommendations and develops innovative ideas and concepts to enhance technologies, processes, procedures, and policies relating to the Database and Basis environments. Skills/Knowledge Required Strong knowledge of Database Management and Architecture across multiple platforms (Windows, UNIX/Linux and Mainframe) Experience/Knowledge in core database technologies including Oracle, SQL and DB2 In depth understanding of SAP Basis Administration and Architecture Project management and documentation skills Ability to work effectively with individuals from many different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience. Strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with business users and technical staff. Strong organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks Effectively create and foster a positive team environment that gives way to collaboration and unified goals. Excellent prioritization skills and the ability to handle multiple job duties in a fast paced environment Understanding of risk and compliance processes - i.e. SOX and HIPAA requirements Education and Experience Bachelors Degree in computer science or equivalent experience. Minimum ten (10) years of Information Technology experience required Minimum eight (8) years of database administration experience or SAP Basis administration experience. Minumum three (3) years of experience managing a team of experienced, technical staff Experience in core database technologies including Oracle, SQL and DB2 Experience in experience and knowledge of SAP BASIS, SAP Landscapes ITIL Foundations certification preferred.
