Engineer II - Desktop Engineering Team - Omaha, NE or Remote


The I/S Desktop Engineering team is looking for a full stack developer to fill the Engineer II role. The ideal candidate will have some previous infrastructure-related experience in their background (e.g. server, desktop, network, database, etc.) Familiarity with multiple development tools and languages is highly preferred, along with solid architectural skills and strong logical thinking ability. Automation will be the focus of this position. VMware vRO is the primary workflow/orchestration engine that will used, but the development of traditional and web applications, APIs, and scripts will also be required.WHAT YOU'LL DO:Uses models as a starting point for designing and developing technologies that enable new or enhance existing business capabilities. Evaluates options; performs tradeoff and cost benefit analyses. Emphasizes the use of a disciplined process when creating and implementing designs and operates effectively as part of a team in doing so. Uses tools and languages to apply processes systematically. Creates and reuses designs and design artifacts. Actively follows the software development lifecycle and DevOps practices. Applies software engineering principles to infrastructure and operations problems with a focus on automation. Collaborates with team to uncover pain points and formulate ways to accelerate delivery. Translates business/user requirements into technical requirements, and applies creative problem solving that bring these requirements to fruition for a team. Prioritizes the use of frameworks and patterns to produce efficient code. Resolves persistent system issues surfaced by technical support teams with proven ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues. Investigates new system solutions to enhance service delivery experience through innovative experiments or Proofs of Concept. Applies a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the development, operation, and maintenance of software. Responsible for the development, maintenance and integration of applications and systems. Independently applies Software Engineering knowledge areas to the entire software life cycle of a complete solution, from definition and development to maintenance and optimization. Participates in the design of new solutions and aligns design activities with Target Architecture principles. Develops the best experience for the end user by maintaining a customer-focused and product mindset. ABOUT YOU:Is well organized with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Has proven experience creating technical & non-technical documentation for production systems and to support end-user training. Has strong understanding of scripting and APIs.
