About the role 

We are seeking an enthusiastic engineer to join our internal sales support team. This exciting opportunity will focus on delivering technical spare parts sales support to our external sales teams and driving national sales growth. This role provides an important link between our external sales teams and internal production teams and can be thought of as facilitators for capturing, interpreting and broadcasting information between our customers and the factory.

The role is highly suited, but not limited to, top-performing graduate engineers and junior engineers with 1-3 years of experience. On-the-job training will be provided to the successful candidate to help develop their engineering knowledge and skillset with career-advancing opportunities attainable for rising stars. 

Summary of the job tasks and responsibilities

  1. Support sales engineers and representatives with technical product advice, related to evaporative cooling equipment (cooling towers, closed circuit fluid coolers and evaporative condensers).
  2. Review BOM, manufacturing drawings and part specification documents to identify appropriate replacement components required for a project. 
  3. Review customer requests for quotation. Create and submit formal quotations to sales engineers, end users and intercompany customers.
  4. Receive customer purchase orders, review that parts are suitable for the application, and initiate project workflow in order management systems (Pilot & Navision).
  5. Check and optimize equipment layouts for projects ensuring adherence to Evapco guidelines and that equipment will perform to 100% of the required thermal capacity. 
  6. Analyze customer product selections and recommend alternative models based on potential benefits associated with layout, energy efficiency, pricing and compliance with Australian Standards. 
  7. Where necessary, assist external Sales Representatives with order entry submission and product selections using the Evapco equipment selection software (Spectrum). 
  8. Review and approve submittal documentation for accuracy referencing the order write-up and other supplied supporting documentation prior to documents being transmitted to customers or sales engineers. 
  9. Enter and manage change orders in the order management system, ensuring operations and production engineering are alerted and aware of required changes.
  10. Follow up with Sales Representatives as necessary to ensure a smooth process between order completion and shipment of products.
  11. Maintenance of pricing, products and accessories listed on sales platforms.
  12. Review market feedback to keep the product catalogues up-to-date and competitive. 
  13. Review base gross margin values for product categories. Monitor sales and ensure gross margin values are maintained.
  14. Undertake customer site visits as required and take field measurements to replicate components and equipment.
  15. Concept design of components and kits to issue to engineering teams for final analysis, design and solution completion.
  16. Create project-specific general arrangements and site layout drawings.
  17. Liaise with the global Evapco sales, marketing, product development and operations teams as needed.
  18. Develop and present product or systems PowerPoint presentations as necessary to develop, educate and train colleagues, sales engineers and sales representatives. 
  19. Investigate parts warranty issues with the QC team, customers and representatives. Identify, report and complete quality assurance reviews [QAR] within QMS quality system.
  20. Identify non-conformity situations and submit nonconformity [NCR] reports within QMS quality system.
  21. Assist in the development and completion of departmental success targets.
  22. Create & manage standard operating procedures and ensure that new processes or changes to existing processes or systems are documented promptly & accurately. 
  23. Review current procedures and practices with a view to continual improvement and cost savings.
  24. Produce external marketing and strategic broadcast documents including but not limited to Engineering Bulletins, Replacement Sales Flashes and Sales Policies.
  25. Develop and present product or systems PowerPoint presentations as necessary to develop, educate and train colleagues, sales engineers and sales representatives.
  26. Attend industry trade events in a frontline sales capacity.
  27. Assist in hosting/conducting factory tours (China and USA facilities) as needed. 
  28. Coordinate sales visits with sales representatives to assist with securing equipment purchase orders. 
  29. Encourage and enforce safe work practices.
  30. Maintain cost reduction and containment.
  31. Maintain a positive and constructive attitude in the workplace.
  32. Carry out all other duties and projects that are consistent with the vision, mission and values of the company, as requested by Management.

Essential skills and experience

  1. University degree in Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor’s) or similar. 
  2. 1-3 years of experience in the heat transfer industry (HVAC, Industrial Process, and/or Refrigeration) is preferred
  3. Prior experience providing satisfactory or outstanding customer service is preferred.
  4. Basic understanding of heat transfer equipment and industry terminology.
  5. Basic understanding of HVAC, industrial process cooling, and industrial refrigeration systems.
  6. An advanced understanding of evaporative heat rejection equipment and its functionality is preferred.
  7. Ability to read & understand engineering drawings, part specifications and project documentation.
  8. Experience with CAD modeling, preferably SolidEdge
  9. Experience with web development and eCommerce platforms is preferred. 
  10. Prior experience with Customer-relationship Management (CRM) software, e.g. Zoho, is preferred.
  11. Proficient use of a Windows-based personal computer, specifically with the Microsoft Office suite of software products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
  12. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  13. Excellent attention to detail.
  14. Strong business sense and industry experience are preferred.
  15. Excellent problem-solving skills and a pragmatic approach to novel situations.
  16. Self-motivated and autonomous.
  17. Possess a Driver’s Licence valid for driving in the state of New South Wales (NSW)
  18. Fluent in English (reading, writing, listening, and speaking)
