Head of Engineering


On behalf of our client, we are advertising. Schlam is looking for a Head of Engineering to join their team based in Forrestfield, WA on a full-time basis.

The Head of Engineering will be responsible for:

  • Lead and develop a high quality and high performing engineering team with capacity to meet company operational and strategic needs in Australia.
  • Provide the team with the systems, tools, techniques, and professional training to ensure we exceed customers’ expectations and optimise manufacturing methodology, including optimisation of planned automation and robotics.
  • Collaborate with members of Payload Leadership Team to drive product innovation anddevelopment.
  • Establish high standard Engineering practices and adopt the discipline to ensurethat stage gates are completed at a high quality and timely manner.
  • Management of Engineering team workload in conjunction with EngineeringProduction Manager to high standard in product design.

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered Engineer with Engineers Australia
  • Project Management qualifications highly desirable
  • Minimum 10 years in a similar role and 5 years in a leadership position
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical engineering principles including welded structures, dynamically loaded structures and computer aided design.
  • High level user of engineering software including SolidWorks, AUTOCAD, spreadsheet, word processing software, project management and presentation software.
  • Strong skill set in 2D, and 3D CAD design drawing experience is essential with knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Experience in engineering design/drafting of mobile plant and mining machinery in particular buckets and dump body trays (desirable).
  • Knowledge of FEA tools such as ABACUS is desirable.
